4th of July Festivities

The 4th of July festivities are:
  • Lions Family 4th Fest - Thursday June 30 - Monday July 4, Gazebo Park - Music, rides, food and beverages
  • Reading of the Declaration of Independence - Monday July 4, 8:45 AM, in front of Village Hall.
  • Parade - Monday July 4, 9:30 AM beginning at the corner of Grange Avenue/Northway (by the LED sign).  The Children's parade will take place at 9:15 AM.  For those wishing to participate in the Children's parade please meet in the parking lot of St Thomas of Canterbury starting at 8:50 AM.  Please remember chairs and blankets used to reserve a space to view the parade may not be placed out prior to 7:00 pm on Sunday July 3.  They are the only items that may be used to reserve a space.  Pop up tents are allowed, but may not be placed prior to 7:00 AM the morning of the parade, they may not be affixed to the ground and they must be occupied at all times.  
  • Fireworks - Monday July 4th - Dusk - Brinkman Field - The Village is using a new fireworks vendor this year, come check out the new show!

Road Work on S. 76th Street

The Wisconsin DOT will be completing road work on S. 76th Street on the bridge over Loomis Road this summer.  Construction is scheduled to begin June 22nd and continue through the end of August.  The bridge over Loomis Road will be painted, rehabilitated and resurfaced.  Impacts on S. 76th Street will include a reduction to a single lane in each direction and potential overnight closures to facilitate bridge painting.

Grange Avenue Project Public Informational Meeting

On Thursday July 14th from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm there will be a Public Informational Meeting in an open house format at the Greendale Safety Center Court room, 5911 W. Grange Avenue.

In 2024, Grange Avenue from 76th Street to 84th Street will be resurfaced.  The project includes pavement resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, curb and gutter repairs, storm sewer repairs, lighting replacement and repairs to the Grange Avenue bridge over the Root River.  

Representatives from the Village of Greendale and Ayres Associates will be present to answer questions and take your comments.

2022 Revaluation

If property owners would like to discuss their assessment please contact Tyler Technologies at 262-395-4441 to schedule an appointment with assessment staff June 9, 2022 - June 28, 2022 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Letters from the Assessor regarding your 2022 property assessment were mailed out the week of June 6th.  Each property should have received a letter from the Assessor with their new assessment.  This year, the Assessor completed a Village-wide revaluation of properties in Greendale. A revaluation is a review of all assessments using current market sales and trends in order to arrive at an estimated fair market value of each property as of January 1st of the year of the revaluation.  The last revaluation for the Village of Greendale was conducted in 2018.


Village Board Meeting Time Change

At the May 24th Village Board meeting the Board voted to change the meeting start time of the Regular Board meetings from 7:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  This was done to try to be more accommodating to community members and Village staff.  This change will begin with the June 7th Board meeting.

2022 Capital Projects - Road Rehabilitation, Street Lighting, Water Mains and Pathways

In the Budget the Village Board added approximately $5 million in additional funding for Capital projects in 2022.  The additional funding will help the Village catch up on deferred maintenance for road rehabilitation, street lighting, water mains and pathways.  A list of projects were bid out, including a number of alternate projects that would be considered depending on how bid pricing came in.   The Board reviewed and approved the bids at their meeting on February 15th.  All projects that were bid out will be completed in 2022.

85th Anniversary Subcommittee Seeking Volunteers

In 2023, the Village will be celebrating its 85th Anniversary.  The Village Board created a subcommittee of the Public Celebrations Committee to plan for special events to celebrate the Villages 85th.  The Village is seeking volunteers to serve on this Committee.

Village Board Adopts Resolution to Acquire and Extinguish Out-Dated Restrictons on Southridge Mall property

The Village Board approved a resolution at their June 1st meeting that will work to acquire the restrictive covenants governing the 100-acre Southridge Mall property and extinguish those which encumber all parcels associated with the mall and significantly limit redevelopment opportunites.

Refuse and Recycling Center New Hours

The New Recycling Center hours will take effect March 1, 2022 and are listed below.

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM
  • Tuesday and Thursday Closed
  • Saturday (April-December) 8:00AM-4:00PM
  • Saturday (December-March) 9:00AM-1:00PM



Village Board appoints new Village Manager

When Todd Michaels announced his retirement after over 24 years of service with the Village, the Village Board conducted a nationwide recruitment to fill the position of Village Manager.

After reviewing numerous applications, four were selected to meet via teleconference.  Following the interviews, the Village Board selected three finalists.  One of the finalists removed themselves from consideration. The remaining two finalists participated in a battery of examinations, which included an open forum with residents. 


Redevelopment of former Boston Store Site to include Apartments and Retail

At the December 21st Board meeting the Board approved a redevelopment agreement for the former Boston Store site with Barrett Lo Visionary Development.  The proposed redevelopment will include a mix of retail and apartments.  Please see attached press release for additional information.

2022 Adopted Budget

The Village Board adopted the 2022 Budget at their meeting held on November 16, 2021.
