Comprehensive Plan Amendment

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday May 3rd at 6:00 pm for an amendment to the Village's comprehensive plan.  The State requires each municipality to adopt a comprehensive plan.  A Comprehensive Plan is a very important document that establishes a community vision, lays out future land use, and identifies issues and opportunities for the future of Greendale.   The Village does periodic reviews of the comprehensive plan document and recommends any amendments needed to allow the plan to remain current and vital to the community.

The proposed amendment would add language to Chapter 7 "Transportation" regarding a concept for additional pedestrian and bike infrastructure.

Change to Curbside Garbage Collection

Beginning April 3, 2023 residents will be required to either use a Village purchased 65 or 95 gallon refuse cart, or leave individual bags at the curb.  No other refuse containers may be used for curbside collection.  This change will cut down on the amount of work-related injuries, and increase efficiency of the garbage routes.

As a reminder refuse may not be placed curbside prior to 6:00 PM on the day before collection, and no later than 7:00 AM on the day of collection.

Water Meter Replacement Project

The Village of Greendale will begin replacing residential water meters starting the week of August 22nd.  Replacement of the water meter is mandatory, takes about 25-35 minutes and is at no cost to the homeowner.  The Village of Greendale has contracted with Core & Main, and their installer Midwest Testing, to furnish new Sensus water meters.  All installers will have photo ids, uniform, travel in marked vehicles and have completed a background check.

The meter installation will start in the West side of the Village.  You will receive a welcome letter a few weeks  prior to the installers being in your area.  After that you will receive a letter with instructions on how to schedule an appointment for your water meter replacement.

2022 Community Survey Results

A total of 802 responses were submitted to the Village of Greendale Community Survey administered in August 2022, representing 13.9% of all Village households. The survey results will serve as a guide to the Village Board in future decision processes. A survey results report is now available to download.

Redevelopment of former Boston Store Site to include Apartments and Retail

On December 21, 2021 the Greendale Village Board approved Barrett Lo Visionary Development’s proposal for a mixed-use development at the site of the former Boston Store property at Southridge Mall that will bring upscale market-rate apartment options for residents, modern retail amenities and significant new tax base to the community.
