Block Parties

Planning a BLOCK PARTY is a big job, and a great way to connect with your neighbors!

Block Party permits are issued to residents of the Village of Greendale who would like to barricade the residential street they live on for a neighborhood event.

A good faith effort must be made to gather the support of your neighbors and welcome their participation, as well as inform them of the street closure.

The Block Party applicant must reside on the block and is responsible for the  event -  including set up and take down of the barricades, as well as clean up of the streets following the event. The street must still be accessible for emergency vehicles. Objects such as tents, tables, etc., that would hinder free access to emergency vehicles cannot be placed in the roadway.

Effective January 1, 2023, per the Village of Greendale Schedule of Fees and Deposits, there is a one-time, non-refundable fee of $50 for each block party permit.

Block Party Application (payment will be required in order to submit the application - If your permit is denied, the permit fee will be refunded)

Once your  application is received at the Police Department, you will receive a letter indicating whether your block party has been approved. The letter will also give you instructions on the use of barricades for  your event. Barricades must be moved to allow free ingress and egress on the street during the event.

This permit may be revoked at any time, for any reason.
